Mass Reading Reflection for Wednesday, April 9, 2025
Fifth Week of Lent (Year B) are Daniel 3:14-20, 91-92, 95 (first reading), Daniel 3:52-56 (responsorial), and John 8:31-42 (Gospel)

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel bids us abide in Thy word—‘The truth shall set you free,’ Thou sayest. Bishop Sheen thundered, ‘Liberty is Thy gift, O Lord, not man’s chain!’ Daniel’s three youths face the furnace, trusting Thee above the flames of death. St. Charbel guides us to stand firm in Thy truth, as Gibran muses, ‘The fire that burns reveals the dawn.’ The Lord saith, ‘If the Son frees you, you are free indeed’—sin’s bonds break at His voice. This Lent, cling to one truth of His—love or faith—and let it blaze in your heart. Thy freedom, O Lord, sings through the furnace to eternity.”
