Help Me Make It Through The Night by Tammy Wynette
"Help Me Make It Through The Night" is a country ballad written and composed by Kris Kristofferson, first released on his 1970 album *Kristofferson*. Sammi Smith recorded her iconic version later that year for her album of the same name. Since then, the song has been performed by numerous artists, including Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Olivia Newton-John, Loretta Lynn, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner, Willie Nelson, and Glen Campbell, among others.
In my opinion, Tammy Wynette delivers the standout version, released in 1973 on her album *Another Lonely Song*.
Kris Kristofferson drew inspiration for the song from an *Esquire Magazine* interview with Frank Sinatra. When asked what he believed in, Sinatra famously replied, "Booze, broads, or a Bible—whatever helps me make it through the night."
This video features scenes from the movie *Bounce* (2000).
