This Is CONCERNING...

In this video, I respond to Allen Parr's recommendation of Christian TV shows like The Chosen and House of David, where he argues that the benefits outweigh the negatives, claiming these shows spark interest in the Bible. While I understand the appeal, I strongly disagree with his view.

In particular, I discuss how The Chosen portrays Jesus in a way that doesn't align with the biblical depiction. The portrayal feels more like a seeker-sensitive, non-offensive version of Jesus that avoids confronting issues that might challenge groups like atheists, Muslims, and Mormons. I believe this portrayal doesn't capture the full depth and truth of the Gospel message.

Additionally, I address the controversy surrounding the show's off-screen connections to Mormonism, which I find problematic. People don't just watch what's on-screen; they also take in the behind-the-scenes associations, which raises concerns about the potential influence of these ties on the show's messaging.

Ultimately, I explain why I wouldn't personally recommend these shows and why I believe we need to be cautious about the content we consume and endorse, especially when it comes to the portrayal of our faith.
