Illegal immigrant raped and murdered a 13-year-old boy in LA

"This is a message for mothers: do not trust anyone with your children. Moments after the district attorney announced he would file charges against her son’s soccer coach for his murder, Óscar Hernández’s mother said she wants Mario García Aquino to face the maximum penalty, including death.

District Attorney Nathan Hockman said the 13-year-old was murdered in Lancaster on March 28, and claimed that his 43-year-old soccer coach was responsible. Search teams found the boy’s body on the side of a road in Oxnard last Wednesday.

Hernández’s family says they reported him missing after losing contact with him when he took a train from Sun Valley to meet the coach in Lancaster, who was allegedly going to bring him back home.

The district attorney said it is still unclear how Hernández was killed, but the charges include a special circumstance of murder during the commission or attempted commission of a lewd act with a minor. Hockman recently stated that he would allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty, and this could be one of those cases."

Murder of Mollie Tibbetts (2018): Mollie Tibbetts, a 20-year-old college student, disappeared while jogging near her home in Brooklyn, Iowa. A month later, Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a 24-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, was arrested and charged with her murder. Rivera led authorities to Tibbetts' body, which had been hidden in a cornfield. In 2021, he was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Nevada Killing Spree (2019): In January 2019, Wilber Ernesto Martínez-Guzmán, an illegal immigrant, was arrested for a string of burglaries and murders that resulted in the deaths of four people in Douglas and Washoe counties, Nevada. Martínez-Guzmán confessed to committing the murders during home robberies.

Migrant Deaths in San Antonio (2022): On June 27, 2022, 53 migrants were found dead in an abandoned truck near Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The deaths were caused by heat exposure and suffocation during a failed human smuggling attempt across the U.S.-Mexico border. This incident is considered the deadliest of its kind in U.S. history.

Murder of Jocelyn Nungaray (2024): On June 16, 2024, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was sexually assaulted and murdered in North Houston, Texas. Two illegal immigrants from Venezuela were arrested and charged with her murder. Authorities found Jocelyn’s body in a creek the next day and determined she had been raped and strangled.

Killing of Debrina Kawam (2024): On December 22, 2024, Debrina Kawam was set on fire while sleeping on a subway train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn, New York. The suspect, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala identified as Sebastián Zapeta-Calil, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other related offenses.

Murder of Laken Riley (2024):
On February 22, 2024, Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student from Augusta University, was murdered while jogging on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia.
Her body was found in Oconee Forest Park near Lake Herrick; the cause of death was blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.
The suspect, José Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old Venezuelan immigrant who had entered the U.S. illegally, was arrested and charged with murder.
In November 2024, Ibarra was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, and other charges. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
