The first automatic vertical parking system, Chicago (USA), 1932

This parking garage, the forerunner of the Hänel Rotomat automatic vertical warehouse, occupies the same ground space as six cars, and with its eight floors, accommodates a total of 48 cars.

The vehicles were driven directly onto tilting gondolas, which were then lifted using the Ferris wheel principle and guided by a transmission system operated by an employee. The system guaranteed vehicle delivery in no more than 55 seconds.
