Breitbart's Oliver Lane Discusses Political Trends in the UK & EU

While authoritarianism has been on the rise in Europe, a populist reaction is taking place.

In 2015 the EU opened its borders to an unvetted flow of Middle Eastern immigrants. Social tensions then emerged as European and Muslim cultures clashed, with numerous cities experiencing dramatic increases in crime, including pedophile grooming gangs in the UK, which Breitbart London reported on extensively while the establishment media ignored it.

Since then, EU governments began moving in an increasingly authoritarian direction. For example, they have restricted speech, often jailing citizens for “offensive” or “hurtful” comments on social media, and for harmless acts, such as praying silently in front of an abortion clinic.

These dynamics recently have resulted in the election of populist leaders, such as the Netherlands’ Geert Wilders and the UK’s Nigel Farage.
