Mass Reading Reflection for Tuesday, April 8, 2025
Fifth Week of Lent (Year B) are Numbers 21:4-9 (first reading), Psalm 102:2-3, 16-21, and John 8:21-30 (Gospel)

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel warns, ‘Where I go, you cannot come,’ yet Thou art lifted up for all to see. Bishop Sheen proclaimed, ‘The Cross is Thy sign, O Lord, healing our serpent bites!’ Numbers tells of the bronze snake—raised high, it saves the grumbling flock from death. St. Charbel guides us to gaze on Thee, as Gibran muses, ‘The wound’s sting bears the balm.’ The Lord saith, ‘When I am lifted up, I will draw all’—His height is our hope. This Lent, look to His Cross—name one sin in prayer—and find His mercy there. Thy lifting, O Lord, turns poison to life everlasting.”
