Who was Samson?

The name Samson means "of the son". Samson was the son of Monaoh, born in the town of Zorah in the tribe of Dan on the border of Judah. (B.C. 1161) His home was near Bethshemesh, which means "house of the sun." an angel announced Samson's birth during a dark time for the Israelites. Israel was under the rule and oppression of the Philistines. Samson was born a Nazirite and was set apart with supernatural strength from God to do His work in the nation of Israel.
