Us _chaina trade war accelerates

Markets around the world have rallied slightly after the last few days of heavy losses - although they've only recovered a fraction of the amount that's been wiped off the value of shares since Donald Trump's tariff turmoil was unleashed.

It's all based on hopes that talks with some of America's main trading partners could allow them to avoid the most punitive tariffs.

China, however, is still vowing to "fight to the end".
