"I'm living in a world of darkness." :D

"Dayman" is a song from the TV show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, known for its absurd humor and catchy simplicity. It first appeared in Season 3, Episode 9, where Charlie Kelly (played by Charlie Day) and Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) spontaneously create it after being kicked out of a band formed by Mac and Frank. The song’s creation happens when Dennis shows up at Charlie’s apartment, finding Charlie tinkering on a keyboard, and the two churn out the lyrics—"Dayman, fighter of the Nightman, champion of the sun, he's a master of karate and friendship for everyone"—in a burst of ridiculous inspiration. The song was written by the show's writers Scott Marder and Rob Rosell, with input from Charlie Day, aiming for something hilariously bad yet memorable.
It later became the centerpiece of the Season 4 finale, "The Nightman Cometh," where Charlie expands it into a full rock opera. In the musical, Dayman is a heroic figure who defeats the Nightman, with the gang performing it in all its over-the-top glory—Dennis as Dayman, Mac as Nightman, and so on. The episode, driven by Charlie Day's real-life passion for music and collaboration with composer Cormac Bluestone, turned "Dayman" into a fan favorite. The cast even took the musical on a live tour in 2009 across cities like Philadelphia and Los Angeles, adding new songs and improv.
The song’s glam-rock vibe, inspired by the likes of David Bowie, and its earnest delivery amidst the show’s dark comedy make it iconic. It’s a testament to Sunny’s ability to blend absurdity with surprising creativity, leaving a lasting mark on its audience.
