How to co-witness red dots correctly on a pistol (most get this wrong)

The old wisdom for red dots on pistols is that you needed suppressor height sights so that you could line up the dot with the irons and use both at the same time.

There's a better way that can increase the usable size of your optic by 40-100%, get you on target quicker, and make you much more effective with an optic.

Absolute co-witness: when the irons are lined up, the dot is sitting on the front sight in the middle of the window.

Lower 1/3 co-witness: when the dot is in the middle of the window, the irons are in the lower 1/3 with the front sight slightly above the rear notch. This gives you about 40% more usable window than absolute co-witness.

Lower 1/10th or buried: when the dot is in the middle of the window, the rear sight is at the bottom of the window and the front sight is sticking up a bit. This can double your usable window compared to absolute co-witness.
