The upcoming Georgia governor’s race is shaping up as a battleground, with former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms preparing a campaign that slams Trump’s second-term agenda, warning of a "moral and economic cliff" under GOP rule. On the Republican side, Chris Carr and Burt Jones are vying for the seat, with Carr leaning into a MAGA image and Jones also in the mix. Governor Brian Kemp and Speaker Jon Burns face criticism for lavish spending and blocking election security bills, the first session without such legislation since 2021 under GOP chair Josh McKoon. The state GOP has yet to issue a unified statement backing Trump’s bureaucracy cuts, budget reductions, and tariffs, with Kemp dodging the tariff issue by focusing on jobs, while Carr and Jones remain silent. Insurance Commissioner John King vocally supports Trump’s America-first stance. Meanwhile, Senator Jon Ossoff amasses over $11M in campaign funds, and Kemp finds $50M in extra revenue amid accusations of reckless spending on Georgia’s largest-ever budget, potentially leading to future cuts in a special session. Other political moves include State Senators Brian Strickland and Bill Cowsert eyeing the Attorney General role, and Representative Mike Collins urging Kemp to run for Senate, while John King bolsters his MAGA credentials early.

The governor’s race is coming up. Former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is preparing to launch a campaign for GA governor that attacks Trump/s second term agenda, warning the state is headed for a moral and economic cliff under GOP leadership.
We have Chris Carr running for governor who is trying to look very MAGA at the moment. And we have Burt Jones who is also preparing to run for governor.
Gov Kemp and Speaker Burns are laughing at the people of GA because they have spent all the money. They have stopped the election security bills from being passed this session. The first session to not pass an election bill since 2021 under the watch of GOP chair Josh McKoon. GA republicans are satisfied where we are at in the ERIC system.
We need the statement from the GA GOP Inc saying they support Donald Trump and his efforts in cutting the bureaucracy, cutting budget, and the tariffs equalizing the playing field in the world. State GOP leaders are cautious, Kemp sidestepped on the tariffs saying that he is focused on bringing good paying jobs to GA. This isn’t the first time Kemp has sidestepped Trump. Carr was quiet, Burt Jones was quiet. John King came out to support Trump saying, “President Trump is keeping his promise to put America first and negotiating better deals with countries that have taken advantage of us and were allowed to do so by weak politicians.”
Ossoff put more than $11M in the bank during the first quarter in campaign contributions.
Kemp finds $50M to the revenue estimate citing higher interest earnings. They are going to keep spending it until it runs out and just get back together to cut the budget in a special session. Does this mean that they could cut the budget? They have passed the largest budget in GA history loaded with pork and irresponsible spending.
You will start seeing more announcements for offices everyday. State Senator Brian Strickland and Bill Cowsert are looking at the AG office. Mike Collins made the case for Kemp to run for senate. Will Kemp run? John King is coming right out of the box looking MAGA.
