What Holly Quran saying about the of Charity
Brothers, sisters, friends and elders, Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.
We welcome you to the Islamic informative series episode No 21 on healing and events from the Holly Quran, in this video we will describe, What Holly Quran saying about the of Charity
Charity holds a significant place in Islam, both as a fundamental practice and as a means to purify one’s wealth and soul. In the Qur'an, the act of giving charity is often compared to a seed that, when nurtured, grows into something much greater. This metaphor is powerfully encapsulated in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 261, where Allah (SWT) likens charity to a seed that, when planted, grows into a harvest that multiplies manifold. The parable emphasizes not just the act of charity but the reward that comes with it, underscoring the spiritual, moral, and social dimensions of giving. The teachings of charity are not confined to the Qur'an alone; they are also reinforced in numerous hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which further illustrate the immense value and reward of charitable acts.
In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 261, Allah (SWT) states, **“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which produces seven ears, and in each ear is a hundred grains. Allah multiplies to whom He wills.”** This powerful metaphor paints a vivid picture of how charity in the path of Allah is not a simple act but something that can grow exponentially, far beyond the immediate act of giving. A single act of charity, like planting a seed, has the potential to yield rewards that multiply far beyond what the giver can imagine. The imagery of a seed sprouting into multiple grains underscores the idea of growth and expansion. Just as a seed, when planted and nurtured, produces a bountiful harvest, so does charity, which, when offered sincerely for the sake of Allah, yields rewards that are magnified manifold.
The parable also emphasizes the generosity of Allah, who, according to the verse, multiplies the reward for charity to whomever He wills. This highlights the fact that charity is not just about the amount given but the sincerity and intention behind it. Allah knows the hearts of His servants and will reward them in ways that go beyond human understanding. The significance of the verse lies in the understanding that every act of charity, no matter how small, can have a vast impact, not only in this world but also in the Hereafter.
One of the key aspects of charity in Islam is its multifaceted impact. It serves to purify the giver’s wealth, cleanse their soul of greed and attachment to material possessions, and strengthen their bond with Allah. Charity also benefits society by redistributing wealth and supporting those in need. It fosters a sense of solidarity, compassion, and empathy within the community. The concept of charity in Islam is not limited to financial contributions but extends to every good deed—whether it is a kind word, a smile, helping someone in need, or offering time and effort for the benefit of others. Each of these acts, when done with the right intention, is considered charity and carries its own reward.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reinforced the importance of charity in his sayings. In a well-known hadith, he said, **“The best of you are those who are most beneficial to others.”** This hadith emphasizes that charity is not just about giving money but about being of service to others. It encourages believers to actively seek out ways to benefit society, whether through their wealth, knowledge, time, or efforts. The Prophet also highlighted that even the smallest act of charity is rewarded by Allah. He said, **“Charity is due on every joint of the body of every person every day the sun rises. Every utterance of Allah’s glorification is a charity. Every step you take towards prayer is a charity.”** This hadith emphasizes that charity encompasses a wide range of actions and that every good deed, no matter how small, is counted as charity in the eyes of Allah.
The concept of charity is further emphasized in another hadith, where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, **“If you give in charity, Allah will multiply it, and it will be as if you had planted a seed, which grows into a tree bearing abundant fruit.”** This saying echoes the imagery found in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 261, reinforcing the idea that charity, when given for the sake of Allah, has an exponential effect. Just as a small seed can grow into a tree that provides countless fruits, so too does a small act of charity grow and multiply, both in this world and in the Hereafter. The reward for such charity is not just material but spiritual, contributing to the purification of the soul and the strengthening of one’s relationship with Allah.
In Islam, the act of giving is not limited to the wealthy or those who possess great resources. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made it clear that charity is within the reach of every individual, regardless of their financial status. In a famous hadith, he said, **“If you give in charity with a sincere intention for the sake of Allah, even a small amount of charity is accepted, such as a date or a few drops of water.”** This hadith underscores the importance of sincerity and intention in charity. It is not the amount that matters, but the heart behind the action. Even the poorest among the Muslims can give charity through simple acts of kindness and service to others, demonstrating that charity is not limited by wealth but by one’s willingness to serve others.
The Qur'an and hadith also emphasize the importance of giving charity with a pure and generous heart. Allah (SWT) says in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 264, **“O you who have believed, do not nullify your charity with reminders or injury, as those who spend their wealth only to be seen by others.”** This verse highlights the importance of sincerity in giving charity. To give charity for the sake of showing off or to seek recognition from others undermines the true essence of charity. Instead, charity should be given with a sincere intention to please Allah and help those in need, without expecting any reward or recognition from people.
Furthermore, in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 267, Allah (SWT) emphasizes that charity should come from what is best and purest in one’s wealth: **“O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced for you from the earth.”** This verse reinforces the idea that charity should not be given from what is surplus or easily dispensable but from what one holds dear—what is valuable and precious. It is only when charity comes from what one loves and values that it becomes a true test of sincerity and devotion to Allah.
The impact of charity extends beyond the individual level. Charity helps to build a compassionate society where people are encouraged to care for each other, foster empathy, and eliminate greed and selfishness. The rewards of charity are not limited to material returns but include spiritual benefits, such as the purification of the soul, the increase in Allah’s blessings, and the relief of one’s burdens on the Day of Judgment. In another hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, **“The best charity is that which is given in secret, for it protects the giver from showing off, and its reward is with Allah.”** This hadith emphasizes the importance of humility and sincerity in giving, further reinforcing the notion that charity should be a means to seek Allah’s pleasure, not to gain fame or recognition.
In conclusion, the parable of charity in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 261, offers a profound and powerful illustration of how acts of kindness and charity, when performed with sincerity, can grow exponentially, bringing immense rewards both in this life and the Hereafter. The Qur'an and hadith emphasize that charity is not merely an act of giving wealth but a reflection of one’s faith, humility, and devotion to Allah. Whether through money, time, or actions, charity purifies the soul and helps to create a compassionate, just society. The ultimate reward for charity lies not only in the material returns but in the spiritual benefits, including Allah’s pleasure, forgiveness, and the eternal rewards in Paradise.
With this, we seek your permission until tomorrow and pray to Allah Almighty to grant us the ability to follow the injunctions of the Quran and the Prophetic Hadith, Amen
Allah Hafiz.
