"And what is the noble truth of the origin of suffering? It is this craving which leads to renewed existence, accompanied by delight and lust, seeking delight here and there, that is, craving for sensual pleasures, craving for existence."
-The Buddha, Samayutta Nikaya

Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
The Buddha here is pinpointing that the origin of suffering, the origin of our unhappiness or dissatisfaction or frustration, what he calls suffering, what we translate as suffering, is due to our own craving. Our inability to be content with what we have and this constant seeking for something different and not accepting where we're at is the cause for frustration, stress, anxiety, all the things that lead to our dissatisfaction with our situation. So, this is the Buddha's explanation of how suffering begins.
