Here is a great example of using waypoints instead of hand flying. Notice that the overall feel is much smoother. You still need to make sure you keep visual line of sight with the drone, actually, I think it is even more important when you do this when flying a waypoint mission because if the drone does not cross the exact waypoints you set, it might hit an obstacle.

The Androscoggin Swinging Bridge, often referred to as the "Swinging Bridge," is a pedestrian suspension bridge spanning the Androscoggin River between Brunswick and Topsham, Maine. Constructed in 1892 by the John A. Roebling's Sons Company, renowned for designing New York City's Brooklyn Bridge, it was commissioned by the Topsham Land Company to provide mill workers residing in Topsham Heights with direct access to the Cabot Manufacturing Company in Brunswick. Initially featuring timber-framed towers, these were replaced with steel structures between 1913 and 1916. A devastating flood in 1936 destroyed much of the bridge's superstructure, but the original cables and towers remained intact; the Works Progress Administration subsequently restored the bridge in 1938. Further rehabilitation occurred in 2006, ensuring its continued use. Recognized for its historical significance, the bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
