Zane’s Immaculate 2011 Maloo LS3 V8 Transformation!
Zane recently purchased this pristine 2011 Maloo powered by the legendary LS3 V8! However, his excitement was dampened by shocking fuel economy—averaging 20-22L per 100km, equating to just 250km per tank. For a V8 with only 70,000km and equipped with an OTR and exhaust, this was far from normal.
After trying a retune elsewhere, he saw a slight improvement, gaining 50km per tank. Yet, the car still suffered from a severe bog-down below 2500 RPM. Zane was told, “this is normal,” but he wasn’t convinced. After hearing great reviews about our work, he decided to give us a shot just before the Christmas holidays.
Upon inspection, we discovered critical issues:
👉 The two most important maps—VVE and MAF tables—were left completely stock.
👉 A leaking purge valve had likely gone unchecked for years.
Here’s what we achieved:
✅ Fixed the purge leak and rebuilt VVE and MAF tables.
✅ Gained 40Nm down low and 16kW up top.
✅ Eliminated the bog-down issue, resulting in a far more responsive drive.
✅ Restored fuel economy to normal levels.
Now, Zane’s Maloo drives like a true LS3 beast should—powerful, smooth, and efficient!
