The Birth of Jesus Explained in a Simple Way

"She will give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
(Matthew 1:21)

Summary of Matthew 1:18–25 – The Birth of Jesus:

Mary, who was engaged to Joseph, became pregnant through the Holy Spirit before they came together. Joseph, a righteous man, considered leaving her quietly to avoid public disgrace.

But while he was thinking about it, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said:
"Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

This fulfilled the prophecy:
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel," which means "God with us."

When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel commanded and took Mary as his wife. Jesus was born, and Joseph named him as instructed.
