THE DEADLINE: An Ode To Tax Day
(please like, share, follow)

I woke to find the day had come,
The deadline loomed, I’d just begun.
With papers strewn across the floor,
I cursed myself and shut the door.

The numbers danced before my eyes,
Receipts in piles, a grim surprise.
I scribbled fast with shaky hand,
To beat the clock, that harsh command.

The coffee flowed, my nerves were shot,
Each form a foe I’d long forgot.
I hunted for that one last slip,
A missing dime could sink my ship.

The sun sank low, my head did ache,
Yet still I fought for my own sake.
At last, I filed with minutes spared,
My tax returns were all prepared.

I vow next year I’ll start on time,
No rush, no stress, a plan sublime.
But knowing me, the days I'll burn,
And tax day chaos will return.

I vow next year I’ll start on time,
No rush, no stress, a plan sublime.
But knowing me, the days I'll burn,
And tax day chaos will return.
