The conflict in Gaza erupted when Hamas militants invaded Israeli communities on October 7, 2023, resulting in 1,200 deaths and the capture of over 250 hostages. In the aftermath, Israel has devastated large parts of Gaza and caused the deaths of more than 50,000 Palestinians.
