I have been deep into preparing my paperwork for this travesty of a comp thing. I just stopped everything and started searching for something to kinda take my mind away from it for a bit and I found an old folder with some crappy videos of a crappy country band I was in but one song stood out. "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr. or Bocephus as he was called. RIP bro...
"Cabin Fever" was the first country band I was in when I first moved to Alaska in 2000. It was actually the first ever country band I was ever in. I've been in mostly heavy metal bands, but it was a change. The guys were great! I can't remember how we got together. I think it was from one of the guys at the mine that told me about them. They needed a bass player, and I was bored out the a$$ so perfect. I got hold of them, and they asked me how much country music I had played. I said none. They said "We're practicing this Wednesday do you want to come and set in". I said sure.

Well that Wednesday was the first time I ever played country, and I was shoved onto the stage the next Friday. Mind you we had 4 sets of 5 songs that I needed to learn in two days. Heck, I knew all three notes so no problem. After playing with them for about three months the lead player (the guy to my right) got sent to Japan because he was a GI. Soooo poof, just as fast as we got together it ended.

Several years later I was in another kinda country band called "Break Away".
