Are you looking for a way to run Wordpress locally, without a lot of configuration and frustration, check out Bob McGinley's approach using the WAMP Server to run Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and PHP on Windows installations.

We'll also look at how to incorporate MySQL Workbench in the mix for a fast and easy way to manage database administration. Once we get everything up and running on the WAMP Server, we'll extract the Wordpress files, install them in the webserver root directory, and go through the installation of Wordpress on our local Windows machine.
