My Motherland at the Foot of the Mountain - (Full Concert Band Score)

Traditional Steppe & Siberian folk songs from Buryatia, arranged and compositionally expanded by myself. Arrangement for Concert Band inspired by performances from the Badma Khanda Ensemble.

This is a piece I aurally transposed at the end of my first year of university. Through exposure in my studies I came to discover a passion for folk music. Mongolian Folk was my first discovery, in order to understand why it impacted me so much, I wanted to transpose some of my favorite songs. This allowed me to see the patterns in the music and realize a prevalence of the Yo Pentatonic scale which is extremely consonant which produces a natural uplifting feeling.
