Gooey butter cake is so addicting, and made with the simplest ingredients! It’s rich, buttery and delicious and once you try it, you can’t stop eating it!

Gooey Butter Cake

Ingredients
Cake layer
1 cup butter, melted
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 cups flour

Custard layer
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions
Preheat oven to 350°.

For the cake layer
In a mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar.
Mix in eggs.
Mix in baking powder and salt.
Mix in flour.
Butter a 9 x 13” baking dish or line it with parchment paper. Use hands to spread the mixture evenly over the bottom of the dish.

For the custard layer
Beat cream cheese until smooth.
Mix in butter and eggs.
Mix in powdered sugar.
Pour mixture over the cake layer and spread even.

Bake for 40-45 minutes. Allow butter cake to cool completely before slicing. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top.

Note
To speed up the cooling process, allow butter cake to cool on the counter for 1 hour then transfer to the fridge and chill for 1 hour.
