Blackened Cod is so flavorful and comes together very quickly! It has seasoned cod fillets that’s seared to perfection, and combined with the lemon butter sauce, it’s unbelievably delicious!

Blackened Cod

Ingredients
For the Cod
1 1/2 lbs cod fillet, divided into small portions
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or according to taste

For the sauce
4 tablespoons of butter
5 garlic cloves, minced
2/3 cup water
2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Directions
Combine all the seasonings for the cod together in a bowl. Season cod on both sides with salt, pepper, and prepared seasoning.
Heat oil in a pan over medium high heat, and sear the cod. Cook until cooked through about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness. Remove and set aside. if there’s too much black bits in the pan, scrape some of it off.
Melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
Add water and lemon juice and season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
Return cod back to the pan and remove from heat.
