I Thought the Cold Was Over…” — When We Misread the Seasons in Marriage

I was sure spring had arrived. The sun was shining, the breeze was warm, and I happily packed away all my winter clothes—convinced I wouldn't need them again.

But here I am… shivering. Again. 😅

It hit me how often we do the same thing in our marriages.
We see a little improvement, a few peaceful days, maybe even a breakthrough conversation—and we assume we’ve turned a permanent corner.

We misread the signs.
We get comfortable.
We stop doing the work.

And then conflict creeps back in… and we’re blindsided.

But real growth doesn’t happen in a weekend.
Marriage, like the weather, has its seasons—and sometimes, those “warm fronts” are just passing moments, not permanent changes.

So how do we prepare wisely?
✔️ We stay consistent in the little things.
✔️ We build habits that last beyond good moods and good weeks.
✔️ We keep doing the work—even when it feels like we don’t “need” to.

Because real change isn’t proven by one sunny day. It’s measured by how we show up when it gets cold again.

Don’t be discouraged by the dip in temperature.
Just grab your emotional winter coat, lean on God’s guidance, and remember—you’re not stuck. You’re just still growing.
