UMP Modifieds at Roper Mountain

A National career race at Roper Mountain Raceway on Expert difficulty. Pretty clean race on a mostly smooth tri-oval race track. There is moderate banking here in the mountains. You can run most anywhere on this track and be quite close in lap times. The very bottom and a couple spots on the top line are bumpy, enough to upset the car. Traction as the night goes on does drop, but not a lot. For the Heats and Dash the track seems to generate a little bit of slick just off the bottom for a fair portion of the track. Come Feature time it appears the track was reworked and the slickness is gone.

3 cautions here this race, and I also picked up a couple hitch hikers temporarily. Just as I came up on the back of the pack, Will Krup got into Michael Ledford, resulting in Ledford coming to a stop. The 2nd caution Will Krup and Jacob Marker come together and both spinning out. The 3rd and final caution involved Michael Ledford and another car, with Ledford spinning to a stop. At 27 laps in, the 2 cones on the front stretch decided they wanted to go for ride. Apparently it was a bit much for them and they bailed. It was a clean race for me till I tried to split Michael Long and Mike McKinney, as I ended up getting into both a little.
