Hey everyone, I’m Denis O’Brien, an Emmy-winning Producer and Director with a lifelong passion for music. I graduated from Berklee College of Music (trumpet), chased my dreams in New York, and after a detour into Film & TV, I’m back to my roots with Best Band in America—a docu-series on a mission to find the best unknown bands across the country!

What’s Best Band in America All About?

We’re hitting the road to uncover incredible musicians in small cities and big towns—Burlington, Peoria, Asheville, Savannah, Huntsville, Fargo, Butte, Carson City, Santa Fe, and more. These aren’t just bands; they’re doctors, engineers, beer delivery guys, and teachers by day, shredding stages at weddings, clubs, and festivals by night. From classic rockers like Quadra in Burlington, VT (with Mike Trombley on lead guitar) to undiscovered gems, we’re telling their stories—real people, real talent, real lives.

Each 25-minute episode dives into a city’s music scene, spotlighting hometown favorites with loyal followings. We’ll capture their day jobs, their gigs, and their dreams, building to a season-ending showdown where the top three bands compete by interpreting an AI-written song. Fans like you will vote to decide the winner, who’ll take home a $50K grand prize: a recording contract with Bakehouse Studios in Virginia, plus equipment and crew support to make their album a reality.

Our Progress So Far

We’re bootstrapping with my own funds, product-brand integrations (shoutout to Topo Chico for their nationwide product donation!), and support from Bakehouse Studios, who’ve committed nearly $100K in equipment and crew for the mid-Atlantic. We’ve already got 1,500 views in 5 days on YouTube, and our clips—like Quadra in Burlington—are resonating with fans. We’re aiming to raise $100K for our “pilot season” (6 episodes), with $25K from small investors, $50K from sponsors, and the rest from supporters like you. Season 1 will be out summer 2025—join us for the ride!
