Concord, CA - A person who police say was stabbing a family member in Concord early Tuesday morning was shot to death by at least one officer, the Concord Police Department said.

At about 1:40 a.m., multiple police units responded to the 1900 block of Natoma Drive at Willow Pass Road in the northern portion of the city.

Police said dispatchers had received a 911 call about a person attacking a family member with a knife. When officers arrived, they found a man actively stabbing a family member, police said.

"An officer-involved shooting occurred and the male who had been armed with the knife was pronounced dead at the scene," police said in a press statement on social media.

The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said.
