Hayao Miyazaki has been highly critical of the USA’s military exploits over the years, but he's also had a lot to say about Japan's actions, particularly when it comes to World War II. When I made a video about Miyazaki's relationship with America, a lot of people took to the comments section to say that the Studio Ghibli founder was a hypocrite for bashing the United States without mentioning Imperial Japan. The thing is, he has actually called out Japan's military history on many occasions. In this video, I take a deep dive into Miyazaki’s thoughts on the Empire of Japan and why he's been branded a traitor for them in his home country.
