Jack Kornfield is a contemporary teacher and guide in the path of Vipassana Buddhism, and this wonderful quote acknowledges that the first step is to be honest with ourselves and to clearly understand and acknowledge and accept the reality that things are not perfect. This is to shake us out of denial and to help us continue this journey of waking up, which comes through this honest acknowledgement of our situation. Things are challenging. Things are difficult. We all face frustrations, disappointments, anxiety, worries, fears, concerns. As Jack is saying here, there's a way out of this. And the very first step is to be honest and open with ourselves.
