My Creole Belle Mississippi John Hurt Cover

This is a cover version I did of Mississippi John Hurt's My Creole Belle. As a singer songwriter, adding some additional verses came naturally to me.

In the first verse, which was inspired by Taj Mahal's version of My Creole Belle, I added "I have a house in the country, with a garden out back..."

I had a second verse that starts out "Sun shines on the mountains, moon shines through the trees..."

Everybody tends to give Mississippi John Hurt songs a 1920's treatment, but I decided to update it a bit and give it a more personal feeling because I feel like a good song doesn't have to feel like a time piece (I also remembered when I was in school and they said a language becomes a dead language if you never updated.

I didn't want to see that happen with Mississippi John Hurt because he is one of my all time favorite blues musicians.
