Hamburg Mill Corn Grind

Find out how local communities would grind their corn into "grits" or corn meal after the summer crop was in. This was done with the power of flowing pond water from the pond. This mill is one of the few working water powered grist mills left in the state of Georgia.
Get a glimpse of the process of starting up a mill and what would be the most difficult moving part to replace.
Special thanks to the Friends of Hamburg Park for their work in maintaining the mill and on special days demonstrate grinding some corn for the visitors to see. Since this only happens a few days of the year, we wanted to make a video of this process to share with visitors.
Volunteers to help and financial donations are always welcome.

Special thanks also to Richard Brown Photography for filming assistance.
