India Sends 442 Metric Tonnes of Food Assistance to Earthquake-Affected Myanmar

India has dispatched a significant consignment of food supplies to Myanmar in response to the recent earthquake disaster. As part of its ongoing humanitarian effort, Operation Brahma, the aid was handed over at Thilawa Port in Myanmar's southern coastal region. The devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake, which struck on March 28, claimed over 3,100 lives.

Under Operation Brahma, India has been extending support through search and rescue operations, relief materials, and medical help. The latest shipment, comprising 442 metric tonnes of essential food items—including rice, cooking oil, biscuits, and noodles—was delivered via an Indian Navy vessel, INS Gharial, which set sail from Visakhapatnam on April 1.

India's efforts are part of a broader international response, with fellow QUAD nations—Australia, Japan, and the US—pledging over USD 20 million in humanitarian aid and committing to send relief supplies and medical teams to assist the survivors.
