Ash - A Beautiful Trainwreck in Space

Ash is a visually striking but narratively disastrous sci-fi horror film that tries to mash together elements from Alien, Event Horizon, and Pandorum, only to end up as a confusing, derivative mess. Despite strong production design and a solid performance from Aaron Paul, the film suffers from a nonsensical plot, inconsistent character motivations, cringe-worthy dialogue, and obnoxious exposition. With constant jump scares, contrived flashbacks, and a script that seems to forget its own rules scene by scene, Ash quickly devolves into an incoherent slog. By the time it ends, viewers are left wondering what they just watched—and not in a good way.
