Text: Psalms 32

1. Intro: Definition of prayer
OT - 90 / 10 - entreat, beseech another person
NT - 10 / 90 - address to God
2. Cons - negative points on prayer

prayerlessness leads to suffering - v. 3
no fellowship with the Lord leads to lifelessness - v. 4
no understanding in prayer leads to "choicelessness" - v. 8

a. address some issues.
demanding.
rebuking the devil.
lifting of hands, laying of hands.
in the name of Jesus.
name it claim it. declaring.

please don't. just ask (Mat. 7:7)
no trust in the Lord leads many sorrows - v. 10

3. Pro - positive points on prayer

praying, acknowledging our sin, repenting - salvation is attained
vv. 1, 2, 5 - Rom. 4:7-8
it then leads to preservation and deliverance
praying invites the Lords direct instructions
it then brings gladness, rejoicing, joy to us, righteous and upright of heart.

Message/conclusion:

Pray properly and reap its rewards.
