Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has vowed to negotiate the buyback of the Port of Darwin if his Labor Government wins the upcoming federal election. Albanese revealed the plan on April 4, amid rising concerns over the port’s ownership by the Chinese-controlled Landbridge group. He emphasised that the port should be “in Australian hands” for national security and economic reasons. Albanese proposed two options: selling to an Australian private company or returning it to government ownership.
