Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
This is a wonderful quote from Pema Chodron. We usually think that something's wrong if we're suffering, but Pema wisely points out here that that's not at all what the Buddha's saying. He's saying that freedom or liberation comes from understanding that we must understand what the problem is in order to be able to fix or solve the problem. So as she says, this does not mean that something is actually wrong. Perhaps it's actually that something is right that we are on track, that we have a path that we can follow to overcome our suffering. So, I think Pema here is very, very smartly, very wisely showing that the first Noble Truth does not mean that we are cosmic victims. It means we are willing participants and that we hold the key ourself, to our own salvation.
