Slovakia plans to shoot around 350 bears after a man was mauled to death in a forest there.

This is about a quarter of its brown bear population. Prime Minister Robert Fico says this move is needed to protect public safety, where he pointed to several recent attacks.

However, conservationists have slammed the plan, calling it ‘absurd.’
