Time signal, Dotty Dripple by Buford Tune - #shortvideo #shorts #comics #Humor #funny

"Dotty Dripple" was a family comic strip created by Buford Tune, continuing from 1944 to 1974. The strip featured characters like Dotty and Horace Dripple, reminiscent of the popular "Blondie" characters. It followed the humorous and slice-of-life adventures of the Dripple family, including their children Wilbert and Taffy. The comic gained popularity, running for 40 years and even being adapted into comic books. Tune's family actively contributed to the production, with his wife assisting in coloring and his son handling lettering. The strip concluded when Tune retired in 1974.

Buford Tune, born in 1906 in Texas, was an American comic artist known for his work on 'Doings of the Duffs' (1928-1931) and 'Dotty Dripple' (1944-1974). He revived the former and continued the latter after the original creators left. Tune studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and began his career in the 1920s. His wife, Tibby, supported him financially while he worked on various projects, including one-panel gag cartoons and painting giant balloons for the New York Thanksgiving Day Parade. 'Dotty Dripple' ran for 40 years, and Tune retired in 1974. He passed away in 1989 in Santa Ana, California.
