A review is made of the 1 Timothy letter.
Paul will say “ashamed” three times in this chapter.
Was Timothy starting to be ashamed of the truth?
Paul wrote, “Be not thou therefore ASHAMED of the testimony of our Lord [His message], nor of me his prisoner [His messenger]: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God [but take part in suffering for Christ’s truth according to the power of God]” (2 Tim. 2:8).
Then in 2 Tim. 1:12 Paul said I am not ASHAMED for I know whom I have believed. Paul knows it was the risen, ascended Christ Jesus whom he saw when He appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus in Acts 9 when he was blinded by His light.
Lastly Paul said that Onesiphorus “was not ASHAMED of my chain” so Timothy should stop being ashamed of the truth and join in the fight for it.
Praise God that Lord Jesus Christ was brave to go through with the cross and we have His Spirit in us (2 Tim. 1:7).
