**I HEARD IT TOO**

It was past midnight when I heard a soft knock on my bedroom door.

“Mom?” my little sister whispered from the hallway. “Can I sleep in your room? I heard something in the attic.”

I was half-asleep but waved her in. She crawled into bed beside me, trembling.

A few minutes later, another knock came—this time, from the attic above us.

"See?" she whispered. "That’s what I heard."

I nodded slowly, trying to stay calm.

Then my phone buzzed. A text from **Mom**:

**"Are you two okay? I just got home, and the front door was wide open."**

I looked at the girl lying next to me.

She smiled.

**"I heard it too."**
