Revelation 12 – Who is the Woman Clothed with the Sun, Moon, and Stars?

This outstanding chapter begins by giving us a "great sign appearing in heaven!" What does it mean?
Who is this woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars?? Her identity is obvious if one looks into other parts of the Scripture that tell us the meanings of these various symbols!

Why is this woman so hated by the Dragon? What is the time frame of this entire event? Does it extend into today?
