20:03:33 From Carol Willis : needs more volume

20:20:39 From Alison Reece : Will a heavy metal detox help reduce copper? Or will it reduce zinc as well?
20:26:59 From Electron Recycler : Replying to "Will a heavy metal d..."

what type of heavy metal detox
20:29:13 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Andrew: Ask that question at the end. Most binders only work in the gut that’s why IVs are often needed. Also, I’m on the PhD committee for a study using a water soluble zeolite called “clear detox pro”. It has some efficacy and can be used without going to an infusion center. EDTA is the usual substance used in infusions.
20:30:29 From Suzy : What’s the marker for this?
20:31:43 From Suzy : Folinic acids
20:32:02 From Dr. Tom Lewis : carrie@zoewellnesscenter.com. this is the source for the cleardetox pro
20:32:27 From Maura : Folate or folic acid
20:32:33 From Carol Willis : Pheiffer's under- and ovr-methylated types is a different use of methylation terms than commonly heard today in the MTHFR methylation genetics community
20:32:51 From Dr. Tom Lewis : https://www.amazon.com/Nutrient-Power-Heal-Biochemistry-Brain/dp/1620872587
20:33:13 From Maura : Are you suggesting a low folate diet
20:34:55 From Maura : Folic acid is synthetic
Is it folate or the synthetic folic acid that is the problem,?
20:35:26 From John P To Dr. Tom Lewis(privately) : My understanding is that there is a big difference between the folic acid that we enrich everything (that the body can’t process until converted) with and methyl folate

Gary Brecka explains this well
20:36:18 From Dr. Tom Lewis To John P(privately) : John: Yes I heard him on this - shameful that we all get the synthetic in processed foods. Another reason to avoid them.
20:37:37 From John P To Dr. Tom Lewis(privately) : Thx Tom
I think she is confusing these

I agree in limited (ie none) folic acid

But Not methyl folate
20:37:43 From Alison Reece : Replying to "Will a heavy metal d…"
Thinking using CDS but haven’t read enough about it yet.
20:37:56 From Carol Willis : IP6 (inositol heaphosphate) is extremely useful at bedtime with the adrenal stress starting into menopause, or as part of a sleep protocol in general
20:39:53 From OHIO AMY 🇺🇸 : Are you aware of using Mucuna powder for Parkinson ?
20:40:37 From Martha : Dr. Tom – In the training I have received, elevated homocysteine levels are a very good indicator of undermethylation (and the presence of the MTHFR (gene) polymorphism).
20:41:25 From Martha : Replying to "Dr. Tom – In the tra..."

aka – the “motherfucker” polymorphism 🙂
20:42:54 From Maura : Reacted to "aka – the “motherfuc…" with 🤣
20:43:06 From Dr. Tom Lewis : That is my understanding too.
20:43:15 From John P : Martha,
I agree with you.
And franky, Dr Tom helped me see that was one of my major issues.
Adding B3, B6/P5P and b12 (methylfolate, not folic acid) took my homocysteine from 24 to 8. I added riboflavin just to be safe… Believe it or not.
20:44:28 From Dr. Tom Lewis : These pathways are important but the brain inflammation is often infection - like we see in PANDAs
20:44:56 From Electron Recycler : Replying to "Andrew: Ask that qu..."

Yeah dad just had the EDTA IV chelation heavy metal test , its put him in the hospital with dementia like symptoms - hoping its just a UTI & not that metals have been redistributed , his naturopath is terrified at this reaction as am I
20:45:06 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Lithium acts like the antibiotic minocycline - in terms of its anti-inflammatory properties. Without the antibiotic activity.
20:46:24 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Andrew: Sometimes you don’t want to disturb things. I see this often.
20:46:57 From Alison Reece : I am heterozygous apoe4 - isn’t a high fat diet bad for me?
20:47:02 From Carol Willis : Replying to "Andrew: Ask that qu..."

All chelators chelate more or less indiscriminately, so the person will lose minerals they need as well as get rid of or move others around.
20:47:16 From Martha : lithium orotate – yes – 10 or 20 mg a day– Dr. Norm Shealy highly recommended lithium orotate for improving cognitive function. By contrast, bipolar patients take lithium carbonate in doses of 600 or 900 or 1200 mg – a lot more than the 10 to 20 mg recommended by Dr. Shealy and Carolyn Moss.

Andrew : check out the amazing work of Boyd Haley - and OSR/Emeramide
20:48:03 From Kamori Cattadoris : Alison: Yes - APOE 4s need low saturated fat diet. I’m single but still affected.
20:48:05 From Martha : Replying to "lithium orotate – ye..."

Carolyn MYSS – it keeps autocorrecting on me!
20:48:13 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Alison: I believe that is more urban legend. There are only 3 macronutrients and our brains are large because we eat fat.
20:48:38 From Kamori Cattadoris : Dr. Tom: NOT an urban legend. Worked for me.
20:48:58 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Kamori makes a point - about saturated fats - but you want the omega 3 and other unsaturated like in olive oil
20:49:05 From Carol Willis : Lithium at low doses stimulates the thyroid, watch and test for hyperthyroid if taking.
20:49:13 From Alison Reece : Replying to "Andrew: Ask that qu…"
I thought that was probably the case. I thought maybe CDS would balance the minerals better. I’d forgotten about emeramide - didn’t look to be available in Australia when I first saw it.
20:49:18 From Kamori Cattadoris : YES! Saturated fats are the problem — 10 grams per day is sufficient.

… which is why bipolar patients tend to have thyroid issues. Thank you, Carol, for the reminder.
20:53:05 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Amy - boosting dopamine will be a temporary and declining benefit at best.

Thx Martha.
As you might guess from this group, there were a lot more lifestyle/diet etc adjustments in the mix too. But I am convinced that the B-vitamins (much much more than the RDA) and methylation improvement was the biggie.
20:59:47 From Carol Willis : Optimize his thyroid to tighter functional med levels. UTI can cause dementia-like states
20:59:52 From Martha : Replying to "Martha,

That is so cool! Good for you (and Dr. Tom)!
21:00:25 From Carol Willis : I agree. Let sleeping dogs lie.

21:09:57 From Dr. Tom Lewis : Carol: Noted
21:10:37 From Steve : According to researchers, this cutting-edge therapy could be a “game changer” in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

It works through a process called “photobiomodulation” (tPBM), where pulses of infrared light are directed deep into the brain.

21:11:25 From Alison Reece : Anecdote: went to a pharmacy and asked for potassium chloride to mix with sodium chloride. Got told need a prescription. Was told potassium was poisonous. I responded that sodium is too. Later found I can buy a K/Na salt in the supermarket!
