Have you been living with your check engine light on? Or have you been juggling everything? Your team at work, home, that constant pressure to be on top of everything, but just there's not enough of you to being able to go around and just feel like something's off. And there's always something more important than rest. For this lady, her wake up call actually came when her car, which did have the check engine light on, stalled out as she was heading into the office, and it made her realize that this is exactly how she was living her life.
We talked a little bit about her ideas about rest, and how she thought it was selfish to take time for herself when there was so many things that were clamoring for her attention. God designed rhythms of rest into creation. There's time for work, and then there's time for rest.
Rest isn't something that you've earned just once you've gotten everything done off of your list. It's a spiritual rhythm, the way that he wants us to live, and it's built into creation itself. That means it's a sacred responsibility we have to time to rest, recognizing who we are and whose we are.
What warning light have you been ignoring? You don't have to explain at all. Just drop a word in the comments. This just might be the opportunity that God is asking you to pause for.
