The child tax credit for the 2024 tax year remains largely the same as 2023. The credit remains at $2,000 per qualifying child, with phaseouts beginning for married filing joint (MFJ) filers at $400,000 of adjusted gross income (AGI), while other filers start at $200,000 of AGI.

The credit is reduced by $50 for every $1,000 your AGI exceeds the threshold. For 2025, the credit will remain at $2,000 per qualifying child unless the Trump administration & congress pass a new bill making any changes.
