Prophets of Baal and Government Bustouts are two faces of the same deception—one religious, one political, both sustained by illusion and performative power. In the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal, we see a spectacular display: hundreds of prophets shouting, cutting, dancing, invoking a god who never answers. It’s a ritual of noise without substance, devotion without divinity. A spectacle meant to prove power but only revealing its absence. Today’s government bustouts operate the same way—flooding the public with promises, patriotism, and procedural drama while quietly siphoning off the foundations of the state.

At the heart of both is False Power. The prophets of Baal wear the robes of spiritual authority but speak for a void. Likewise, the architects of a bustout wear the suits of public service but act for private gain. They don’t govern—they drain. They perform leadership while stripping systems bare. Like Baal’s prophets, they rely on theatrics to mask the fact that the altar is empty. The gods they invoke—freedom, security, growth—are not being served. They’re being sold off.

This is sustained by Spectacle. In 1 Kings 18, the prophets put on a show. They scream. They bleed. They dance. But nothing happens. In the modern bustout, the spectacle comes through press briefings, legislation dressed up as reform, patriotic rhetoric masking deregulation and decay. The people are invited to watch, to cheer, to fear—but never to see clearly. Spectacle fills the space where substance should be. It gives the illusion of action while the theft continues backstage.

The end goal in both cases is Extraction. The prophets of Baal exist to prop up royal power—to affirm the system, not the sacred. Likewise, in a bustout, laws, institutions, and public trust are harvested like resources. Everything must be liquidated—assets, influence, credibility. The public is left with symbols; the insiders walk away with spoils. The divine is replaced with utility. The nation becomes a marketplace for those in power to burn for short-term gain.

But both illusions eventually face Confrontation. Elijah steps forward not with a better show, but with truth. One voice. One prayer. One fire. No noise—just clarity. In a bustout, the confrontation doesn’t come with thunder—it comes when the numbers stop adding up, when the borrowed time runs out, when even the spectacle can’t cover the collapse. The moment of reckoning arrives, not because truth was louder—but because lies could no longer hold.

And what follows is always Collapse. For Baal’s prophets, it ends in silence and judgment. For corrupt regimes, it ends in broken systems, betrayed citizens, hollowed institutions. The spectacle fades. The gods fail to show. And what’s left is ash—and the slow rebuilding by those who still believe something true can be built again.
