The Suicide Mission
With the team assembled, Shepard boards an incredibly dangerous craft to recover a device that could help them pass through the Omega-4 Relay. But a tragic turn of events causes the situation to become even more dire, and Shepard must finally make the jump to the Collector's base of operations...

Lorek:

N7: Lost Operative: Shepard investigates a Cerberus operative who went missing on the planet Lorek. Upon arrival, the team finds the operative dead, surrounded by Blue Suns mercenaries. Shepard retrieves critical intel from his body, fights off the hostile mercenaries, and ensures the data is returned to Cerberus for analysis.

Omega-4 Relay:

The Suicide Mission: This final mission is broken into four main phases, leading to the climactic battle against the Collectors. Outcomes vary based on your preparation and choices throughout the game. Spoilers below:

Tartarus Debris Field: Shepard and the Normandy crew travel through the Omega-4 Relay, entering Collector-controlled space. The Normandy faces intense attacks from Collector ships, but thanks to the ship upgrades, it withstands the assault. Joker navigates through a deadly debris field, avoiding destruction while EDI provides tactical support. The team successfully reaches the Collector Base but is forced into a crash landing.

Base Infiltration: The team breaches the Collector Base and discovers human colonists trapped in pods, being processed into raw biomaterial for the Reapers. Shepard assigns Tali as the tech specialist to bypass security while Miranda leads the secondary fireteam. Despite heavy resistance, Tali successfully opens the path, but a closing door nearly kills her—she barely makes it through in time. The squad presses on, uncovering disturbing evidence of the Collectors’ operations.

The Long Walk: To reach the central chamber, Shepard’s team moves through a deadly seeker swarm that would overwhelm them without a powerful biotic barrier. Jack uses her biotics to shield the squad while they advance, fighting off Collector forces along the way. Mordin safely escorts the surviving Normandy crew members back to the ship while the rest continue forward.

The Reaper Finale: Shepard and the squad arrive at the core of the base, where they discover the horrifying truth—the Collectors are constructing a human-Reaper hybrid using the liquefied remains of their victims. A desperate battle ensues as Shepard’s team destroys the Reaper larva while fending off waves of Collector troops. The Illusive Man contacts Shepard, urging them to preserve the base for Cerberus. However, Shepard refuses, choosing to destroy it instead. After setting the base to self-destruct, Shepard and the team make a daring escape to the Normandy.

As the Collector Base explodes, Shepard warns the Illusive Man that they will never be his puppet. With the squad intact and victorious, they prepare for the war to come in Mass Effect 3.
