1 John 5:11
And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

Yeshua testified that whosoever believes in Him will have eternal life. He also reminds us that the term "believe" requires obedience.

John 3:34-36 “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure. 35“The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. 36“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

John 6:40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
In this letter, John emphasizes that the love of Elohim is to keep His commandments and His commandments are not burdensome. Actually, that is one of the foundations of Scripture. John gives us some very solid facts about the Father's Word and the importance of obedience by His people.

We also have an added passage in this letter (in the KJV) that needs to be addressed.
