Calls are growing for Myanmar's ruling junta to halt attacks on rebels in the wake of the devastating earthquake that has left more than 2,000 people dead in the country.

Several leading armed groups fighting the military have suspended hostilities to help quake aid and recovery efforts , but junta chief Min Aung Hlaing vowed to continue "defensive activities" against "terrorists".

Amnesty International has criticised Myanmar's rulers. It says, carrying out air strikes and attacking civilians in the region struck by the earthquake is inhumane and shows disregard for human rights.

DW Correspondent Tommy Walker joined us from neighbouring Thailand to discuss the situation and reports that the military has been restricting aid from reaching areas it doesn't control.
