Elon Musk Announces Daily Death Threats from the Left Have Gone from 18,000 to 17,000 a Day
Elon Musk: "And the fact that I'm here in person—I mean, I'm not doing this over a call. I'm here in person.
There have been quite a few death threats, I have to say. My security team told me, 'Well, actually, they've gone down from yesterday to today. We've gone from 18,000 to 17,000.' So I said, 'Oh, maybe it's getting better, you know?'
But you can see how crazy some of these guys are. Look at the two people who tried to assassinate President Trump, you know? And they both almost succeeded. So it's real, it's not some imaginary thing."
Seven Tesla electric vehicles were completely engulfed in flames in the early hours of Saturday, March 29, at a dealership in Ottersberg, northern Germany.
The incident occurred on the same day that global protests were organized against Elon Musk, the American magnate who owns Tesla and a close figure to U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to firefighters, the blaze started around 3:30 a.m. (2:30 GMT) and quickly consumed the vehicles, leaving only charred remains that will be removed by a specialized company.
Police reported that emergency services managed to contain the fire promptly, though residents in the area were advised to keep doors and windows closed due to the thick smoke.
Authorities have yet to determine whether the fire was deliberately set or resulted from a technical malfunction.
However, the context of the global protests has raised suspicions of a possible link. Police have launched an investigation and are asking for witness cooperation to clarify the events. The incident coincided with a day of demonstrations organized in several countries under the banner of opposition to Musk.
In Germany, groups like «Neue Generation» (New Generation), an offshoot of the climate movement «Letzte Generation» (Last Generation), had announced protests for that Saturday in cities such as Berlin, Munich, Nuremberg, and Duisburg.
These actions included gatherings outside dealerships, showrooms, and Tesla charging stations, aiming to denounce what they see as a «contradiction between the brand’s green image and its founder’s political positions.»
The protest organizers also announced plans for demonstrations in other German cities, including Karlsruhe, Koblenz, Dortmund, and Hamburg, as well as at Tesla’s Grünheide plant.
The fire in Ottersberg is not an isolated case of tensions surrounding Tesla. Just two days earlier, on March 27, three Tesla vehicles were vandalized with graffiti in Hanover, with messages such as «KillElon» spray-painted on them, prompting police to launch an investigation into politically motivated crimes.
As German authorities continue investigating the fire’s cause, the incident has reignited debates over Musk’s actions and his company’s impact on public opinion.
For now, the Ottersberg incident stands as a symbol of the growing tensions surrounding Tesla—once a beacon of sustainable innovation, now increasingly a target of political controversy.
